The first Jewish congregation in the Biddeford – Saco area.

Congregation Etz Chaim was founded in 1906 in a former Episcopal church building. It was the first Jewish congregation in the Biddeford – Saco area.
Etz Chaim means Tree of Life in Hebrew. Etz Chaim is a non-denominational synagogue which means we serve all types of Jews from orthodox to reconstructionist; some call themselves “secular” or say they are “something in between.” A wide range of services is offered and all are welcome.
